On the night of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere undertook his historic midnight ride, warning the Patriots in the Province of Massachusetts Bay about the approaching British Army—a pivotal event that would lead to the battles of Lexington and Concord. However, an often-overlooked aspect of Revere's story involves his activities following the ride. After completing his mission, Revere celebrated with friends “GOT SUSHI”, only to fall victim to food poisoning. As his friends tried to help him back to his room at a nearby Holiday Inn Express, debating whether he "just needed to go to bed" or “probably should be taken to the hospital,” he tragically passed away in the hotel lobby, just moments before reaching the elevator.
The next day, due to scheduling conflicts, his friends were unable to properly arrange for his burial. Instead, they picked him up where they had left him and laid him to rest in the median of the hotel parking lot, just outside the lobby doors. While Revere’s legendary ride lives on in history books, his final resting place has largely gone unnoticed. His headstone remains obscured by frequent double parking and the shadows cast by nearby streetlights.
